To stimulate innovation and new businesses, Stena Line annually award the Stena Line Propeller Prize to two young growth companies. Both win 100 000 SEK each. The prize is announced by Blue Science Park during the annual digital event Innovation Day in Karlskrona, Sweden.
Since the 1960’s, Stena Line has been a symbol for driving force and motion. It is found naturally in our business and characterize our ambition to cross borders and develop transport of goods and passengers – but also good ideas. Stena Line has been operating the ferry line between Karlskrona–Gdynia for more than twenty years and has experienced a lot of ideas and innovations in the Baltic region along the way.
We want to encourage new companies and partnerships that enrich and develop the business climate in our region. Therefore, we have instituted the Stena Line Propeller Prize, an entrepreneur prize granted annually to young businesses. We have named the price from the Latin word propellare; “driving force” which naturally comes to mind.
Monica is Trade Manager at Stena Line in region Baltic Sea South and CEO at KBP i Karlskrona AB, owner of the ferry terminal in Karlskrona. She has been working in the financial field for many years and has experience from a wide range of companies, both in terms of size and line of business.
Anna Borkowska – director of Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia (Poland). Formerly has been working for the Municipality of Gdynia, in the field of EU projects (infrastructural and soft), often realised in the partnership. Experienced in supporting startups and innovative businesses. Responsibile for the policy of innovation in Gdynia.
Jenny is Head of Brand and Communications at Stena Line and responsible for positioning the company as a leader in sustainability. She has many years of experience from journalism in Sweden and the UK but has in the past 10 years back had several positions in communication agencies and global companies.
Mikael is a serie entrepreneurs who founded Roxtec and where he was also CEO for many years. Mikael’s main company, Michano AB, which is his family office which, among other things, has invested and developed companies such as, Metget AB, Outpost24 AB, CompuverdeAB which have now been sold. The largest investment today is Anocca AB, leading in cell and gene therapy for cancer treatments.
Åsa is Head of Business & Technology Consulting at TietoEVRY - Sweden. TietoEVRY is the market leader in digital services in Sweden, Norway and Finland and bringing global capabilitiesto the Nordics in Digital Consulting and Cloud & Infrastructure services.
Jörgen is CEO of Blue Science Park. He has a background in mobile telecom, gaming, management consulting, and business cluster/ecosystem development.

eCom Booster is based in Sölvesborg, Sweden and has developed a cloud service that focuses on facilitating administrative tasks for you who run e-commerce.
Motivation of the jury: “The winner is a company operating in a rapidly growing business segment with strong competition. With focus on efficiency and flexibility as product benefits, it has identified a niche which may generate a unique position on the market.”
Novige is an Swedish wave power company from Västerås. Their product NoviOcean Wave Energy Converter is based on several unique and patented innovations.
Motivation of the jury: ”The winner is a company driven by true entrepreneurship and passion for innovation. It has a strong sustainability profile and if successful in implementing it’s product on the international market, it will contribute to mitigate the climate crisis.”
Stena Line Propeller Prize is an entrepreneur prize granted annually to young businesses in the Digital Communication Technology and Maritime Technology arena. Two young growth companies win 100 000 SEK each. Stena Line Propeller Prize is announced by Blue Science Park during the annual event Innovation Day in Karlskrona.

A jury will appoint three companies in each category (Digital Communication Technology/Maritime technology).
Three finalists in each category receive a produced film about their work and gets visibility during Innovation Day on May 5th.
One winner in each category will be awarded during Blue Science Parks annual event Innovation Day in May 2022. The winners will receive the prize money of SEK 100,000.
A jury will appoint three companies in each category for the next stage of the competition. Being among the six nominees, comes with higher demand on being able to show and explain the business idea with documentation and proof of concept.
The finalists will be invited to a digital meeting to pitch their idea to the jury.
This presentation also forms the basis for the jury’s final decision to select the winners.
The jury consists of representatives from Stena Line, science parks in Karlskrona and Gdynia and the business community.
Stena Line believes in the Baltic region. To strengthen it further, we need more innovative companies and partnerships across the borders. We want to be a bridge were ideas and thoughts travel to enrich, develop and build partnerships for the future. To stimulate innovation and new businesses, we annually award two entrepreneur prizes to two young growth companies.
