International webinar on Cyber Maritime Security & Port Community Systems for Small and Medium-sized Ports

Increasingly the maritime industry is not just only handling cargo, but immense volumes of data and information which leads to questions on how to better use that data and ways to protect it. In this second episode in our series on Connect2SmallPorts channel, we examine the current "state-of-the-art" in terms of Digitalization Readiness by reviewing a recent study performed on ports located in the South Baltic Region.

In this second episode in our series on Connect2SmallPorts channel, we examine the current “state-of-the-art” in terms of Digitalization Readiness by reviewing a recent study performed on ports located in the South Baltic Region. How quick and what actions are to be considered for ports for them to realize gains from digitalization are identified from the results of the study.

A mesmerizing presentation on cyber security will leave some participants shocked to find out how vulnerable their systems are to cybercrime. Several examples are explained by experts during the presentation, especially on “What to do when you don’t know what to do anymore ” by helping the maritime industry to identify threats and manage their cyber security. The capstone to this episode is a presentation given by the sectary general of the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA), Richard Morton. The promises of port community systems are critically examined, and details are summarized in helping port professionals to obtain a strong understand of such solutions in their own ports. An overview of port resilience under the current COVID-19 pandemic is discussed with pointers on what to do.
